Direct translation from Punjabi (ਲਾਈਟ ਖੋਲ੍ਹਣਾ/ਬੰਦ ਕਰਨਾ).

Mistake 6: Double Negatives

In Punjabi, double negatives are natural. In English, they cancel out.

Mistake 8: "The" Before Names

Exception: The UK, The USA, The Punjab (as a political region in formal context) — but in casual speech, no "the" before city or state names.

"Myself" ਸਹੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ: ✅ "I did it myself." (= ਆਪ ਕੀਤਾ, ਬਿਨਾਂ ਮਦਦ ਦੇ) ✅ "I hurt myself."

Punjabi uses ਕਰਨਾ for both. English separates them.
