1. Present Simple — habitual i permanent

Usos principals:

  • Rutines i hàbits: "I drink coffee every morning."
  • Fets permanents: "Water boils at 100 degrees."
  • Horaris fixos: "The train leaves at 8."

Formació:

  • Afirmativa: I/you/we/they work → He/she/it works
  • Negativa: I don't work → She doesn't work
  • Interrogativa: Do you work? → Does she work?

Error típic dels catalanoparlants: ❌ "I am working every day." ✅ "I work every day."

2. Present Continuous — ara, en aquest moment

Usos principals:

  • Acció en curs ara mateix: "She is talking on the phone."
  • Situació temporal: "I am staying with my parents this week."
  • Canvis en curs: "Prices are rising."
  • Plans futurs confirmats: "We are meeting tomorrow at 3."

Formació: am/is/are + verb-ing

Verbs que quasi mai van en Continuous: know, believe, understand, want, need, like, love, hate, have (possession), seem, belong

❌ "I am knowing the answer." ✅ "I know the answer."

3. Past Simple — acció completada en un moment concret

Usos principals:

  • Accions acabades amb moment específic: "I saw her yesterday."
  • Seqüència d'accions passades: "He arrived, sat down and opened his laptop."

Formació: verb regular + -ed → worked, watched, called Verbs irregulars: go → went, see → saw, buy → bought

Paraules clau: yesterday, last week, last year, in 2019, ago, when I was young

4. Present Perfect — passat amb connexió present

Usos principals:

  • Experiències de vida (sense moment concret): "I have been to Japan."
  • Acció recent amb resultat present: "She has just arrived."
  • Període que no ha acabat: "I have read three books this month."

Formació: have/has + participi passat

Paraules clau: ever, never, already, yet, just, recently, so far, this week/year

La trampa del català: En català diem "he anat" per qualsevol passat. En anglès, si pots dir "when", usa Past Simple.

  • ✅ "I went to Madrid last week." (moment concret → Past Simple)
  • ✅ "I have been to Madrid." (experiència, sense moment → Present Perfect)

5. Future amb "will" — decisió espontània o predicció

Usos principals:

  • Decisió presa en el moment: "I'll have the salad."
  • Predicció general: "It will rain tomorrow."
  • Promeses i ofertes: "I'll help you."

Formació: will + infinitiu sense "to"

6. Future amb "going to" — pla decidit o evidència visible

Usos principals:

  • Pla o intenció decidida: "I'm going to study medicine."
  • Predicció basada en evidència: "Look at those clouds — it's going to rain."

Formació: am/is/are + going to + infinitiu

Comparació ràpida

| Temps | Quan s'usa | Exemple | |-------|-----------|---------| | Present Simple | Hàbit, rutina | I work every day | | Present Continuous | Ara, temporalment | I am working now | | Past Simple | Passat + moment concret | I worked yesterday | | Present Perfect | Passat + rellevància present | I have worked here for 3 years | | Future (will) | Decisió espontània | I'll call you | | Future (going to) | Pla previ | I'm going to call her |
